Functionality:

Self-emulsifying anionic base, ideal for oil-in-water emulsions. Its high HLB value and anionic nature make ERCAWAX CE V an excellent co-emulsifier. It fills the gaps between molecules of other emulsifiers (with different structures) in the interfacial tension at the water-oil boundary.

ERCAWAX CE V is particularly suitable for emulsifying with oils of varying polarity. When using oils with higher polarity, higher doses of ERCAWAX CE V are recommended to prevent phase separation.

It can also be used to stabilize emulsions containing surfactants that could otherwise destabilize them. Additionally, it provides a mild cleansing effect.

In some cases, especially when surfactants cannot be thickened by adding sodium chloride, ERCAWAX CE V can improve viscosity in emulsions and cleansing products. This effect depends on the level of dissociation of the citrate and is most effective at a slightly acidic pH, which is typical for most cosmetic formulations. For instance, at pH 5.5, adding 2% ERCAWAX CE V can enhance product texture.

Safety:

A study published in the “International Journal of Toxicology” in 2007 concluded that Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is safe for use as a cosmetic ingredient at concentrations described in this evaluation (up to 5%).

Main Function:

Emulsifier, stabilizer, rheology modifier, emollient

Usage:

Add the flakes to the hot oil phase (around 80°C) and mix until homogeneous, then combine with the hot water phase.

Incorporation Rate:

0.5-4.0%

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place below 35°C, in the original sealed packaging. The product retains its properties for at least 18 months.
