Description:

Ceteareth-25 is an ethoxylated cetyl alcohol with 25 moles of ethylene oxide. It is a non-ionic emulsifier that is widely used to create oil-in-water emulsions. With a high HLB (16.27), it effectively stabilizes systems and facilitates the formation of stable emulsions.

Properties:

Functionality:

Ceteareth-25 is a non-ionic emulsifier that forms colloidal solutions in water and alcohol. It is used as a thickener and structure smoother in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and veterinary products. As an emollient, it softens the skin and helps retain moisture, providing long-lasting makeup retention.

Safety:

Ceteareth-25 is considered safe for use in cosmetics; however, it should not be used on damaged skin. Potential traces of 1,4-dioxane, a byproduct of ethoxylation, may be present, but these are controlled during the purification process. Safety reviews by the CIR indicate that Ceteareth ingredients should not be used on damaged skin.

Applications:

• Bath products (foam, oils, tablets, salts)

• Eye cosmetics (liners, eyeshadows, mascara)

• Facial care (blush, foundation, masks, anti-wrinkle products)

• Hair care (conditioners, sprays, styling products, rinses, shampoos)

• Nail care (creams, lotions)

• Cleansing products (creams, lotions, liquids)

• Tanning products (gels, creams, liquids)

Cleansing and emulsifying agent

Usage Instructions:

Heat Ceteareth-25 to 60–70°C in the oil phase of your formulations. Ensure that it is fully dissolved in the oil phase (mix if necessary) to minimize the risk of graininess in the final product.

Usage Rate:

• 0.5–3% in leave-on systems

• Up to 30% in hair care products

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container when not in use.
