Description:

PEG-400 is a product of the polymerization of ethylene glycol (ethylene oxide). It is used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, detergent production, textiles, rubber, metalworking, and other industries as a solvent. It has a purity of 99%. PEG-400 is a viscous, colorless liquid with excellent dissolving properties for both hydrophilic and hydrophobic substances, making it a versatile ingredient in drug and cosmetic formulations.

• Solubility: Water, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, dimethylformamide, acetonitrile

• Molecular weight: 380-420 g/mol

• pH: 5.0-7.0 (5% aqueous solution)

• Flashpoint: >100°C

• Viscosity: Viscous liquid (Mr <400)

• Chemical stability: PEG-400 is prone to thermal oxidative and thermal degradation above 310°C and is sensitive to high-speed stirring

Applications:

• Textile auxiliaries

• Laxative formulations

• Dispersing agent in toothpaste

• Thickener, e.g., in hydraulic fluids

• Binder and base in pharmaceutical and cosmetic products (e.g., creams, tablets, suppositories)

• Binder in the production of ceramic molds, powder metallurgy, and casting

• Used in the production of nonionic surfactants by covalent bonding with hydrophobic molecules (e.g., castor oil)

• Used in the production of polyurethanes

Usage:

• Dissolve substances in PEG (if needed)

• Add PEG to water or another solvent as per the technical conditions

Concentration:

Up to 25% in cosmetic formulations, depending on the application

Store at temperatures not exceeding 25°C, in a dry, cool place, protected from direct sunlight
